Summer Employment Opportunities

The following is a list and brief description of the positions that are available for the summer. Please download an application form from the staff forms page and submit your completed application to Field Administration Committee, Camp Artaban Society, 1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver, BC, V7R 1H8. All positions require a Criminal Record check if applicant is 19 years old or older. A current basic first aid certificate is also recommended for on-site positions.

On-Site Positions

Youth Pastor

Acts as a youth minister for all staff and campers during the summer. Must have a strong Christian background and a solid understanding of Anglican theology. A Minister, ministry student or graduate preferred.

First Aid Attendant

Live-in First Aider for staff and campers. OFA level lll required. Field experience with children recommended. Belay ticket and experience with climbing an asset.

Leadership Trainer

Responsible for providing food services for up to 175 people per meal and leading a kitchen crew of 5 others. Food Safe level 2 mandatory.

Assistant Head Cook

Responsible for assisting the Head Cook in all areas of food services. Will act as main cook in Head Cook's absence. Must have Food Safe level 1. (Level 2 an asset).

Special Diets Cook

Responsible for preparing menus and meals for campers and staff with special dietary needs. Will also be responsible for preparing and serving regular camp meals and general kitchen clean up. Must have Food Safe Level 1.

Kitchen Helpers (3)

Responsible for preparing and serving meals and general kitchen clean up. Must have Food Safe level 1.

Head Guard

Will run an open ocean waterfront program. Responsible for program development, facilitation and waterfront staff leadership. NLS required. Pleasure Craft Operators card required. OFA level lll an asset. Boating experience an asset.

Lifeguards (2)

NLS required. Pleasure Craft Operator card required. Boating experience an asset.

Maintenance Workers (2)

Responsible for janitorial cleaning, general grounds upkeep and some building projects. Previous construction or other related experiences an asset. Must have a minimum class 7 driver's license.

 

In-Town Positions

Expediter

Responsible for camp purchases. Works 10 hours per week. Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Position runs from mid-June until the end of August.

Registrar

Responsible for registering campers, coordinating boat day and general office administration. This position runs from mid-May until the end of August. Works 30 hours per week.
